Arts and Culture

Northwest BC is a diverse region with a culture all its own. This is an area that has been inhabited for over 10,000 years by First Nations communities, many of whom still make their homes here today. Since European discovery, the region has also become home to dozens of cultures from around the world.

These different cultures and communities together form the unique identity of Northwest BC and throughout the Northwest, you will find many opportunities to learn about this history and to share in these unique cultures.

World-class museums and national historic sites are only a starting point. Our communities are also home exciting performing arts venues, fine local and first nations art galleries and interesting small museums. Throughout the year there is also a full schedule of special events including theatre and music festivals, fall fairs, and much more.

The residents of Northwest BC take pride in our diverse arts community and we invite you to take advantage of the many opportunities to share in a learning experience that you will not soon forget.
